Off the Streets

No veteran who has served and sacrificed for our country should ever go to sleep without a roof over their head. Yet, sadly, veterans are overrepresented within the homeless population. But why do veterans become homeless?

- Mental Health Issues: Untreated or undertreated mental health issues, such as PTSD, substance abuse, depression and anxiety, make finding stable housing difficult.

- Family Issues: Separation, divorce and other family issues are common when a veteran is struggling to readjust when returning to civilian life.

- Unemployment: Many veterans may not have applied or interviewed for a job before and may face additional challenges as a result of their service.

DAV is dedicated to helping end veteran homelessness. Learn more about how we can create a brighter tomorrow for the veterans in greatest need and get them off the streets.
