Friend,

Just a few minutes ago, I announced that I am running for Governor of Rhode Island.

I'm running to build a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable economy where every Rhode Islander can find a good job, afford the college or job training that will prepare them for a bright future, and be treated with respect and dignity by their state government.

I’m running because my wife Julia and I want our child to grow up in a state where the American Dream is possible for every child regardless of their zip code.

I’m running because we cannot wait another moment to do what it takes to transition Rhode Island to a clean energy economy.

I am a proud, born and raised Rhode Islander. My grandfathers were both sons of immigrants, who grew up with little money, but because of their hard work and the opportunity of America, they were able to return from WWII and get good, middle-class jobs - Grandpa Bob as a union steelworker and Grandpa Louis as a bookkeeper. With those jobs, they were able to send my parents to college, who in turn built a life for me that my grandparents could never have imagined.

Their story is the story of countless Americans, and it's called the American Dream. But even before the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Dream was breaking down and, in communities of color, it never fully existed.

I believe we have a chance to turn this pivotal moment in our history into a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rebuild the American dream in our state and our country. That's why today, I'm launching my campaign for Governor of Rhode Island.

We need bold leaders who are ready to seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity, and I'm ready to lead Rhode Island by investing in education, workforce training and investments in the clean energy jobs of the 21st century. Will you chip in $10 or more to help me launch my campaign for Governor?

I've spent the last six and a half years as Treasurer, working to build a stronger and more equitable economy for all Rhode Islanders. I've focused on creating good-paying jobs, leading a once-in-a-generation effort to rebuild and transform our school buildings and investing in clean energy infrastructure. The statewide school construction initiative I chaired has invested over $1.4 billion in repairing or replacing 176 schools, ensuring that every kid in Rhode Island has a chance to walk into a safe, warm and dry school building that will help prepare them for the jobs of the future.

The future is what we make of it, and together we can hand our children an economy that will afford them the opportunities and promise of the American Dream.

If you're ready to get to work on rebuilding a stronger state than ever before, please consider making a contribution to my campaign for Governor today.
