The upcoming Democratic primaries are about adding progressive power to Congress, John. That’s why I’m in the fight with Justice Democrats.
When I ran for Congress as a Justice Democrat, I fought to address the climate crisis with a Green New Deal, ensure everyone has healthcare with Medicare for All, and end the outsized influence of corporations and the top 1 percent in our democracy. Justice Democrats is recruiting, supporting, and working to elect progressives to Congress to keep up this fight.
The problem is, the political establishment has way more money.
The establishment calls up their big Wall Street donors, Big Pharma executives, and corporate PACs to donate to the Democratic Party or right-wing groups. Then, they use their unlimited funds to smear Justice Democrats running on a platform of transformative change. The establishment did it to me, they did it to Bernie Sanders, and they do it on a daily basis to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, and other Justice Democrats in Congress.
Justice Democrats is fighting back, getting ready to re-elect the Squad, elect new progressive members of Congress, and transform the Democratic Party. Can you join me today and support Justice Democrats with a donation? Chipping in $5, $27, or anything at all will help us run the strongest primaries we can against the political establishment.
When I was national co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, I saw firsthand how the fight for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal was met by the political establishment. The establishment coalesced their energy and money around one goal: Stopping Senator Bernie Sanders and the progressive change he’d bring to the White House.
As a candidate for Congress, I saw the exact same corporate-backed establishment do everything it could to stop me from winning a seat in the U.S. House. This pattern will not stop, and it’s going to take all of us supporting organizations like Justice Democrats to ensure we have the resources to elect progressives to Congress.
I know we can win economic, social, racial, and environmental justice for the people if we get to work, organize, and do it all together.
In solidarity,
Nina Turner
