Friends - Last month, Peter reached out to share a few updates on the COVID-19 pandemic, resources on the Delta variant, and to ask you to take our coronavirus informational survey. Your responses have been helpful to Peter and our whole team, giving us a better sense of where our supporters are at as we continue to navigate this stage of the pandemic. Thanks to your responses, we’ve heard directly from people both in Vermont and all across the country — from health care workers on the frontlines in our clinics and hospitals, to teachers and parents concerned with sending kids back to school, to essential workers worried about safety protocols in light of the Delta variant. As we enter another Fall season in the pandemic, it’s important that we all remember we are not alone in this crisis. That’s why we’ve compiled a few of the hundreds of submissions we’ve received, and wanted to share some with you today: “As a registered nurse I am more concerned about ensuring adequate supplies of PPE and testing capabilities; there will be many variants to come, make sure we have the tools we need to help people.” - Judy in South Burlington “Thank you for all you are doing. This is a very frightening situation. My husband and I are older Vermonters and we are vaccinated but worried about breakthrough infections. We want people vaccinated and taking all precautions to slow down the spread of this virus.” - Sarah in West Townshend “I am concerned about my grandchildren (five of them under the age of 12) as they go back to school. I hope all local schools will have standards in place to protect them as much as possible.” - Patricia in Winooski As Peter said last month, it’s critical that all of us continue to remain vigilant and move forward together. Peter has been laser-focused in the House, fighting to deliver relief and sustainable solutions for communities in Vermont and to help working families all across the country recover from the pandemic and rebuild stronger. There is still more work ahead of us when it comes to this public health crisis — from continuing vaccinations and implementing safety protocols, all the way to rebuilding our nation’s human infrastructure and guaranteeing health care as a human right. But so long as our movement continues standing together as one, we know that we’ll get through this and get it done. Thank you as always for standing with Peter and being a part of our team. All our best, Team Welch
