Safe and Active in Later Life: Falls Prevention Virtual Event

ROSPA logo
Falls are responsible for four out of five accident-related hospital admissions among people who are aged over 65, but the good news is that they many can be prevented.
Maintaining an active lifestyle, and keeping good levels of strength and balance, can help to prevent falls. Simple changes to the home environment can also reduce your risk of falling.
ROSPA (Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents), along with their partners the RSA Group, are holding a free online Safe and Active in Later Life: Falls Prevention Event at 3.00 pm on Wednesday 13 October, in collaboration with Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
This free-to-attend event will focus on the role of strength and balance exercises in helping prevent falls. Bex Townley from Later Life Training will lead a demonstration and both Bex and Professor Dawn Skelton, from Glasgow Caledonian University, will be on hand to answer questions. Sara Davies from Age UK Notts will also provide more information about the ?One Step at a Time? scheme which aims to connect and support members of our communities who are feeling isolated and lonely by helping them build their strength and confidence and become more socially and physically active.
