Afghans in the US: Looking back, looking forward
The Center for Immigration Studies will host a 10 a.m. EDT panel on Tuesday, September 14, to discuss the immigration implications of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the decision to admit over 100,000 immigrants.

Join Center for Immigration Studies experts as they discuss a new report ([link removed]) by Dr. Steven Camarota, the Center’s director of research, which provides a detailed demographic look at Afghans in the United States, providing insight into how the new Afghans immigrants are likely to fare.

Panelist Dan Cadman, a Center fellow and 30-year veteran of INS and ICE, will address the security, fraud, and health issues stemming from a large-scale admission of people from Afghanistan.

Dr. Nayla Rush, a senior researcher at the Center and refugee expert, will discuss the potential number of Afghans who may arrive in the U.S. for permanent resettlement and the visa programs that will be used, and how the Biden administration is going outside of congressional visa programs.
