Dear John,

"Few things are more detrimental to human dignity than the practice of abortion. A child in the womb is a distinct, developing, whole human being, created in the image and likeness of God."

Meg Kilgannon, FRC's Senior Fellow for Education Studies, declared this truth at a Capitol Hill news conference in July flanked by lawmakers, pro-life activists, and experts.

With the abortion debate heating up right now, we have a real opportunity to trumpet this truth to all Americans in the days ahead.

As you know, John, the Texas Heartbeat Act that has gone into effect has the Left up in arms.

This recently passed law (known as Senate Bill 8) restricts abortion after a heartbeat has been detected in the unborn child. Because this law has actually gone into effect and not been blocked by the courts, this is the first time since Roe v. Wade was passed 48 years ago that the unborn have been protected anywhere in America starting at six weeks.

Coming at the same time that the Supreme Court is taking another look at abortion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, this legislation is reason for great hope and reminds us that one day America could be a country that values and protects life at any stage of development.

Support FRC's Efforts to Protect Life

We must continue working towards this goal, as abortion activists work to tear down any emerging and existing pro-life legislation.

This was evidenced earlier this summer when Nancy Pelosi's House passed the annual Labor-HHS appropriations bill without the Hyde Amendment for the first time in decades. For the last 44 years, the Hyde Amendment has protected American taxpayers from funding abortion.

But the Left wants to see that change.

In fact, as the Texas law went into effect two weeks ago, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reiterated their commitment to codify Roe v. Wade into law. (Of course, every time they say that, remember it's an acknowledgment that Roe is not the law of the land. It is only what the court has imposed upon the nation.)

Today, the Left is scared.

When you consider that we have the Mississippi Dobbs case before the Supreme Court, could we be close to becoming a predominantly pro-life nation?

I believe we could be months away from seeing America become a nation that fundamentally respects human life.
