Reproductive freedom is a gender, racial, and economic justice issue — and
it’s under attack right now.

Texas just passed the most restrictive abortion ban in the five decades
since Roe v. Wade, outlawing abortion before many people even know they’re
pregnant and deputizing private citizens to sue anyone who helps
facilitate abortion care.

And Texas isn’t the only state attempting to roll back the clock on
reproductive rights. In 2021, nearly 600 pieces of legislation restricting
abortion access have been introduced, and 90 have been enacted by state
legislatures across the country.

In response to these attacks on abortion access, Congress must secure the
right to an abortion and urgently pass the Women’s Health Protection Act —
Ayanna and Rep. Judy Chu’s bill to codify Roe v. Wade, and ban other
draconian state laws like the one in Texas.
