** Dear John,
------------------------------------------------------------
During another particularly difficult year, parents and caregivers are dealing with a lot as students head back to school.

In her latest article, LFJ Senior Writer Coshandra Dillard explains that the past two school years have been “rocky at best, heartbreaking at worst.”

COVID-19 has created or exacerbated struggles for families and whole communities. It’s magnified health disparities and other disparities that disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous and Latinx people. Public arguments about what can and cannot be taught in schools and fierce debates about mask-wearing and vaccines have only added to the stress and anxiety.

Now is the time, Dillard says, to “emphasize the importance of community care—taking care of our children as we simultaneously combat oppressive systems that harm us all.”
Read Dillard’s full article ([link removed]) for tips we hope you find useful as you send your children back to school.

Thanks for all you do for our youth.
