. Hi John,
We are seeing so many brazen attacks on our democracy by radical elements in the Republican party. These attacks are deliberate and undermine the will of the people in Wisconsin. That includes sabotaging efforts to protect our water and wildlife.
One of the many attacks on our democratic processes is ex-Natural Resources Board (NRB) member Fred Prehn refusing to vacate his expired seat, despite a qualified replacement appointed by Gov. Tony Evers. The NRB plays a significant role in Department of Natural Resources (DNR) decisions, and should not be controlled by politics and grandstanding. As Attorney General Josh Kaul sues to remove Prehn from the board, there is also another way. The state senate can listen to the will of Wisconsin voters, do their job, and vote to confirm the current appointees.
By refusing to vacate his seat, Prehn is mocking our democratic processes and bringing in elements of radicalism and obstructionism that are actively encouraged by Speaker Robin Vos and the members of his caucus beholden to his radical brand of politics.
We already face gerrymandering that interferes with our ability to choose our leaders. Add in the brazen attempts to sabotage elections, our freedom to vote, and the insistence by Vos and his caucus to continue to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars of our taxes on sham election reviews. This subterfuge by Fred Prehn is inexcusable and destructively partisan – a true Trumpian maneuver with no practical, productive value.
Will you send a message to your state senator and let them know you expect Gov. Evers’ appointments to be approved and seated immediately? Thanks for being a conservation voter, Ryan Billingham Communications Director Wisconsin Conservation Voters |
