Pushing back against a newly launched, anti-credit union &quot;campaign&quot; by the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA), NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger immediately hit back at the ICBA's shady attempt to stifle credit union competition.


NAFCU rep testifies on CUs' diversity, outreach efforts [ [link removed] ]
Today, NAFCU-witness Mara Falero will testify before a House Financial Services subcommittee on the important role minority depository institutions (MDIs) have in serving diverse and underserved communities, and the economy as a whole. Falero is the vice president of marketing and communications at JetStream Federal Credit Union (Miami Lakes, Fla.), which is a certified MDI and community development financial institution (CDFI).


NAFCU calls for protections as committee reviews housing finance reform [ [link removed] ]
The House Financial Services Committee today will hear from key decision makers on the impact of the Trump administration's housing finance reform plans. Ahead of the hearing, NAFCU's Brad Thaler reiterated the association's housing finance reform principles and called for congressional action to guarantee certain elements.






Berger among leaders invited to global event on digital economy [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger yesterday attended the Global Inclusive Growth Summit hosted by Mastercard – a NAFCU Services Preferred Partner – and The Aspen Institute. The invite-only event brought together purpose-driven leaders from the private sector, government, and non-profits to explore challenges and strategies in building an inclusive digital economy.


CFPB to hold symposium on small biz data collection [ [link removed] ]
The CFPB announced last week that it will host a symposium on Section 1071 of the Dodd-Frank Act, which requires the bureau to collect data on lending to small businesses. NAFCU has previously urged the bureau to exempt credit unions from rulemakings related to data collection and reporting on small business lending as the industry is subject to strict limits on member business lending.
