Right before August recess, the House of Representatives passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act — legislation to ban discrimination at the ballot box and protect the right to vote.
This legislation has never been as critical as it is today. Republicans are trying to restrict the right to vote in state houses across the country, from Georgia to Texas to even right here in Wisconsin — a coordinated attack on our fundamental rights all because they believe the more people who vote, the worse their chances are of winning future elections.
Enough.
The Senate must step up and pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act to protect the right to vote. And if we need to eliminate the filibuster to stop Mitch McConnell’s obstruction and get this done, I’m all for that.
If you’re with me, add your name to my petition demanding the Senate pass critical voting rights legislation and protect our fundamental rights across the nation.
Our entire democracy is on the line here. We can’t afford to stay silent on this critical issue.
