In a minute, I’m going to ask you to chip in to support our work ahead of our mid-month deadline. But first, I wanted to take a minute to explain why I got into politics in the first place, and why your support is so important.
I ran for office because I didn’t see anyone representing family farmers like me or folks in rural communities — someone fighting for them, not the special interests. It’s why I’m working with Democrats to tackle the climate crisis, repair our infrastructure, and expand access to health care.
Clearly, some of the Republicans in Congress see their work differently. Too many of them are focused on obstruction, spreading conspiracy theories about COVID-19, pushing discriminatory voter suppression laws — anything to score points with Donald Trump’s base.
Well folks, politics isn’t a game. Lives and livelihoods are put at stake when Washington Republicans continuously choose wealthy corporations over everyday people, dark money over affordable prescriptions, and conspiracy theories over facts and science.
But if Republicans insist on playing political football with our lives and our democracy, we better suit up to protect our Democratic majority in the Senate.
