Our call to action is growing stronger, John.
Members of the Congressional ‘Squad’ – including Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Cori Bush – have joined together to call on President Biden to stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline.
In fact, earlier this month they visited with Indigenous Water Protectors on the frontlines of the Line 3 fight to learn more about the risks of the pipeline and see the destruction firsthand.
Their visit comes days after the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination requested that the U.S government respond to allegations of human rights violations associated with the pipeline construction.1
During her visit, Rep. Ayanna Pressley said: “President Biden has the opportunity and … the responsibility in making good on his word to be the climate president, and must direct the Army Corps of Engineers to revoke the permit for Line 3.”2
John, this visit elevated our call to stop Line 3. Now we need to continue this momentum and build more pressure on President Biden to act. Here are two ways you can help right now:
With pressure from the UN, members of Congress, and our grassroots climate movement, we can support the resistance on the ground and build our pressure on Biden to #StopLine3.
The only guaranteed way that we lose is if we don’t try.
In solidarity,
