John -- after the deadly attack at our Capitol on January 6th, General Motors pledged to pause all political donations and re-evaluate its relationships with those in Congress who incited the insurrection.
But now, less than a year later, GM has quietly resumed these donations -- and has already contributed tens of thousands of dollars to GOP lawmakers who voted to overturn the 2020 election.
And GM isn’t alone. UPS, American Airlines, Tyson -- many leading companies that pledged to suspend their donations have since kicked in money to help re-elect one or more of the members of Congress who attacked our democracy at Donald Trump’s behest. [1]
Sign the Petition: We call on these companies to cease all donations to these Republicans -- and recommit to putting our democracy before their partisan political interests.
John, it’s shameful -- these corporations’ short-lived pledges to prioritize our democracy were nothing more than empty words.
And now that they think nobody is looking, they’re once again backing politicians who -- by peddling Trump’s lies and refusing to certify the 2020 election -- incited the insurrection at our Capitol.
General Motors, UPS, American Airlines, and others are hoping that we won’t notice. They’re hoping that a few months was enough time for everyone to move on -- and that we won’t care that they’ve started fueling the spread of dangerous disinformation again.
Let's show them that we’re paying attention. Let's demand -- loud and clear -- that these corporations sever their ties with lawmakers who threatened our democracy and stop backtracking on their commitments.
Add your name if you agree: We must shine a spotlight on and demand better from companies that are once again funding insurrection-inciting Republicans.
Thanks for all you do,
