Friend --
It's undeniable that America has a gun violence problem.
Gun violence is an epidemic, and lawmakers across the country aren't doing enough to combat it. Our entire nation has been forced to face a surge in gun violence over the past few years --
all the while it's completely preventable.
Earlier this year, I was proud to vote for H.R. 8 and the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. Both bills would make background checks more extensive while closing loopholes to ensure that the government can conduct these background checks timely and efficiently. Passing these bills is just the first step in the many things we have to do as a nation to combat the gun violence epidemic.
Day after day, week after week, and month after month, the news of yet another shooting at a school, grocery store, house of worship, or another public space has become an aspect of daily life in America.
If we don't combat the gun violence epidemic soon, our children will know no life without shootings. That's not the world we should be leaving for them. We should be centering love and compassion, setting up a future free of gun violence and full of resources for communities to thrive in every aspect.
It's time that we recommit ourselves to the fight to end gun violence in our communities and stop the senseless bloodshed -- will you join me in that fight, ?
It's time for the Senate to pass common-sense gun safety measures in conjunction with investing directly in our communities. If you're ready to overcome the gun violence epidemic, sign the petition demanding the Senate pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
The National Rifle Association has a hold on many of our political leaders and has wielded its influence to cause divisiveness and inaction from our government for far too long. Their leadership blocks even the smallest common-sense reforms that are supported by a majority of Americans.
The NRA is at the center of this ever-growing gun violence epidemic -- but we have the power to defeat the NRA and put a stop to the high rates of gun violence.
Common sense gun safety laws are long overdue. The Senate has the power to pass legislation like H.R. 8 and the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. It's time to make sure background checks are more extensive and effective, and in doing so, we can ensure that gun violence stays out of our schools and communities.
I am committed to overcoming this gun violence epidemic -- are you with me ? Please add your name to the petition to demand the Senate take action to end gun violence now.
In solidarity,
Antonio
