Last month, I joined my colleagues in the House to do the right thing and pass a bill to fully fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund.

But yesterday, Senator Rand Paul, along with the Mitch McConnell-controlled Senate, actually BLOCKED this important bill from being voted on.

The First Responders and other heroes from that day are suffering because of their bravery. They ran into collapsing buildings to help save lives, without regard for the illnesses that may have fallen upon them from it.

We owe them more than our gratitude -- we MUST make sure that they receive the medical help and attention they deserve.

This is exactly what voters hate so much about Washington -- they play political games without any regard for the human lives that depend on action.

John, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps because of the events on that tragic day. I served overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. And to me, it’s unfathomable that we’d even debate protecting those who answered the call to serve on 9/11 as First Responders.
