Your redistricting questions, answered.
ACLU Supporter –
Redistricting.
This once-in-a-decade process will determine the allocation of political power and representation at every level of government for the next 10 years – impacting the future policy decisions of nearly every civil liberties issue we care about. And it's already underway across the country.
But what exactly is redistricting? To understand that, and how your activism is going to be needed for it in the coming weeks and months, the ACLU has you covered.
That's why I'm touching base today to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we get around redistricting at ACLU's Voting Rights Project, including:
<[link removed]>
→ What's the difference between redistricting and gerrymandering?
→ Why bother with redistricting?
→ Who conducts redistricting?
→ How can we make sure redistricting is conducted fairly?

ACLU Supporter, when conducted fairly, redistricting can accurately reflect population changes and racial diversity and can help equitably allocate representation. But when politicians use it to manipulate the outcome of elections, the process can undermine our democracy.
We can't allow that to happen: Voters should be picking their politicians. Not the other way around.
So please, equip yourself with the facts now by diving into my FAQ piece here <[link removed]> – and be ready for more updates from me and the whole ACLU team very soon.
