Tonight we had the best election result in Green Party history.
We organized the biggest Green election campaign ever. We knocked on thousands of doors and made tens of thousands of phone calls. We won the hearts (and votes) of Canadians who understand that the fight for climate action is the fight of our lives.
Canada’s 43rd Parliament will have 3 Green MPs. 3 times the voice in the House of Commons. 3 times the energy to hold the government accountable. And 3 times the chance to show Canadians Green politics in action.
Over the last few weeks, we have seen volunteers flood into offices across the country, rolling up their sleeves to champion the Green vision. You went out into your communities and talked with your neighbours about the issues that matter most. You welcomed fresh faces and new voices to our cause.
Canadians across the country are looking to Greens with new eyes and excitement. The results tonight showed just that: Canada is ready to hear our voice.
We’re more sure than ever that Canada is ready for our message of hope, action and positive politics.
Our MPs will be fighting hard in Ottawa to keep this government accountable. Providing a voice for science, for responsible government, and for bold climate action.
Now is the time to celebrate our momentum and prepare for new opportunities. There’s a lot of work to do and I want to thank you for being here with us.
