Dear Friend, In 2018, after years of advocacy and grand promises of bumper crops and the creation of the material of the future, hemp was legalized nationwide as a result of a provision in the Farm bill. In the short period since then, we have seen the reality that no market exists for the huge glut of hemp that was grown following its legalization. The result? Farmers have been put in even worse positions than they were before, and the overwhelming majority of hemp is now being turned into cheap, quasi-legal compounds such as Delta-8 THC and THC-Acetate. For a thorough breakdown of how hemp legalization failed the very farmers it was supposed to help and a brief rundown on the new, borderline psychoactive substances being created from hemp, see my latest column for Newsweek here. One of the issues allowing such products to proliferate is the fact that most lawmakers, from the local level all the way to Congress, have no idea they even exist. Most are completely unaware that the legalization of hemp has been anything other than a smashing success. Click here and here to download our two comprehensive one-pagers on the failures of hemp legalization and the rise of hemp-derived products such as Delta-8 THC and THC-Acetate. Share them, and my latest Newsweek column, with your representatives at the local, state, and federal levels. It is up to all of us to inform our lawmakers to the reality of the situation and urge them to take action against these new, quasi-legal products…before it is too late. Finally, could you chip in $1,000, $500, $250, or even just $100 to help us spread the word on these new, potentially dangerous hemp-derived products? No matter the amount, your gift will help keep us on the front of the fight against the pot industry, and any form it may take, as it fights to become the next Big Tobacco. <<<Donate to SAM Today>>> Thank you for all that you do.
