Climate change is an environmental and humanitarian crisis, as well as a national security threat. Climate change threatens to overburden already unstable states and regions and lead to more conflict and refugee movement.

Our own Pentagon has called climate change a “threat multiplier,” meaning it puts our troops as well as our military bases and other assets at greater risk, and reduces military readiness. The climate crisis is a national security imperative that military planners have long told us requires immediate action if we truly hope to protect national security and support our military, their families and our veterans' sacrifices.

To address this threat, meet the moment, heed the science, and make good on President Biden’s promises, Congress must act NOW to deliver major investments to address the threat of climate change.
