John,

The last 40 days have been incredible.

So many people said we wouldn’t be where we are tonight. We’ve inspired people across the country to see that we can vote for things we believe in.

We’ve welcomed people to our movement who didn’t always feel they belonged. People who love this country deeply and want us to take better care of each other.

And I’ve spoken to so many young people who’ve been inspired by this campaign – to believe that they can do anything. Our work has already changed things for people. We believed it could be done, and we were right.

Whatever happens tonight, I could not be happier or more proud of this campaign, of this team, and of this country. And you were a part of this, John – so thank you.

Tomorrow, our work together begins again.

We’ve committed to choosing people. To ensuring the wealthiest pay their fair share. That people can afford their medication, and a decent place to call home. To reconciliation, and to fighting climate change. To making sure young people have hope for the future.

Our job is clear – to hold the government to account and make sure they serve us – not the wealthiest and most powerful.

But tonight, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating a truly unforgettable campaign.
