Dear Friend,
Victory! After hundreds of colorful campaigns dating back to the 80s—when PETA members made Macy's its prime target for its Fur-Free Friday protests and activists were arrested for blocking the doors at its store in Herald Square in New York and disrupting its Thanksgiving Day Parade—PETA is toasting to a new, fur-free era at Macy's, which has announced that it will stop selling fur by the end of 2020. This fur ban will include all of Macy's and Bloomingdale's private brands as well as items sold from brand partners.
Macy's joins hundreds of designers and retailers around the world—including Burberry, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, and Versace—in dropping fur, most of which comes from animals who spent their entire lives inside filthy, cramped wire cages before being electrocuted, bludgeoned, suffocated, or even skinned alive.
This excellent news also means that Canada Goose will no longer be able to sell its fur-trimmed jackets at Macy's or Bloomingdale's. Tell Canada Goose to get with the times and drop fur.
Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this victory. Progress isn't possible without you!
Sincerely,
|
