The hardest part of being a freshman conservative member of Congress is knowing who you can trust. After I was elected, I learned quickly that conservatives don't have a lot of friends in the Swamp.
Oh, there are plenty of lobbyists, consultants, and corporations looking to swap favors for campaign cash. But precious few people in Washington are there for the right reasons.
However, one organization has stood out from all the others for its commitment to conservative principles and its willingness to help new members like me: the Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI).
Before I was even sworn in as a new Member of Congress, CPI was there for me - shoulder to shoulder, eye to eye. They didn't just send me some resumes of potential staff members and wish me well. You have to understand: CPI interviews and vets young conservatives all year round to identify and then recommend the best, smartest, and toughest staff.
And CPI's experienced team helps advise new members. CPI Chairman Jim DeMint and Senior Partner Mark Meadows both served in the House so they know every trick in the book. They know how House leaders rig the process and how conservatives can pick and win fights.
CPI exists to pass all this practical wisdom on to new members, so that every class of new conservatives in the House and Senate is ready to fight for freedom on day one.
Let me give you an example. My friend Ed Corrigan, CPI's President and CEO, personally helped me evaluate candidates to serve on my congressional staff. Ed knows more about Congress than most congressmen. He helped me separate the show horses from the workhorses and helped me ask the right questions to identify candidates' strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to Ed's help, I have one of the best teams on Capitol Hill.
Without CPI, new members like me would be susceptible to the hucksters and frauds who corrupt so many politicians. That's why you'll find me at CPI's headquarters several times a week. It's the nerve center for conservatives on Capitol Hill and around Washington and it's the conservative bunker in the middle of the Swamp.
When I'm at CPI, I know I'm among friends who love our country and are willing to fight for it. We're there to work together to stop the woke socialists who are trying to tear our country apart.
