John,

One of the things that makes me most proud to be a Minnesotan is that Minnesotans know how important it is to vote. Year after year, we lead the nation in voter turnout, and our state and the entire country are better for it.

Republicans know that the higher turnout is, the less likely they are to win. They’ve spent decades trying to restrict access to the ballot box, and since latching onto Donald Trump’s Big Lie, they’ve been working overtime.

GOP lawmakers across the country have introduced more than 400 suppression bills so far this year, including here in Minnesota. In 18 states, they’ve enacted them, and if it weren’t for Governor Walz and our House DFL Majority, we would have been number 19.

If we lose the fight to protect voting rights, we lose every fight after it. And after the Supreme Court effectively overturned Roe v. Wade last week by failing to strike down Texas’s unconstitutional abortion ban, the stakes are in clear focus.

It’s never been more important for us to take action. Democrats in the House took the first step by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, but we need to keep the pressure on to get to President Biden’s desk.

Will you join me today to raise your voice in support of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act? Add your name today to help us demonstrate the overwhelming support for safeguarding voting rights for every American.

Thank you,

Ken Martin
Chairman
Minnesota DFL
