John -
I was 26 before I ever saw an African American woman presiding in a courtroom as a judge. It was Justice Pat Timmons Goodson in Fayetteville, and that moment changed my life.
That is the power of representation. When our elected leaders reflect the diversity of our state and nation, we get better outcomes for everyone.
Right now, the Senate has zero African American women, but we can change that and help bring meaningful change for our families.
There’s no doubt that we will face tough challenges and vicious attacks from Republicans who want to stop us.
I saw the lengths Mitch McConnell was willing to go to block Justice Timmons Goodson’s nomination to a federal court. He and his allies will do anything within their power to stop us from flipping North Carolina’s Senate seat.
That’s why it’s so important for us to be together in this campaign.
I’m immensely grateful for all of the support we’ve received so far. If we keep working hard together, I know we’ll win in November.
