John,

Various species of animals across the globe – ranging from wild bees and moths to hummingbirds and fruit bats – pollinate flowering plants. We rely on these pollinators to grow our food, but sadly more than 40 species of pollinators are listed as threatened or endangered.

But YOU can do something to help. Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Jim McGovern have reintroduced the Saving America’s Pollinators Act of 2021. This bill would protect pollinators by immediately canceling the registration of dangerous pesticides called neonicotinoids.

It’s up to us to safeguard these unsung heroes that maintain the crops we rely on to feed everyone. Send a message to your representative today urging them to support the Saving America’s Pollinators Act and help protect pollinators.

In addition to protecting our pollinators from neonicotinoids, the Saving America’s Pollinators Act would direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to create a Pollinator Protection Board which would independently review pesticides for their threats to pollinators and habitats, and monitor pollinator populations — ensuring that no harmful pesticides make it into the field in the first place.

Neonicotinoid pesticides are lethal to bees and many other pollinators. They cause nervous system problems in bees that stop them from pollinating and breeding.

The U.S. lost more than one-third of its honeybee colonies between 2018 and 2019. Yet the EPA has a history of allowing the use of bee-killing pesticides despite all the evidence that they cause harm to bees. This dangerous stance means that bee colonies will continue to suffer unless we act now.

To truly protect bees from lethal pesticides, the duty falls on our legislators. Join with us in demanding bold action to save our bees and other pollinators.

Protect Our Pollinators
[link removed]

At Food & Water Action, we know that saving our precious pollinators goes beyond neonicotinoids. Our end goal to protect pollinators involves systematically reforming our food and farming systems and implementing bold solutions to the climate crisis, including ending fossil fuel subsidies and transitioning to 100 percent clean and renewable energy by 2030.

Pesticides are just one threat facing pollinators, but it is a threat that must be stopped. We cannot hope to protect pollinators if we do not address this imminent threat to all species’ survival. Are you with us?

Send a message to your representative: Tell them to protect pollinators from neonicotinoids.
