Honoring Our St. Tammany First Responders
Last week, I attended a "Thank You" dinner for our first responders serving St. Tammany Parish. I thanked our brave men and women for all their efforts during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida to help those in our communities endangered by the storm. We appreciate everything they do to keep us safe.
President Biden's Un-American Vaccine Mandate
Last week, the Biden Administration announced a vaccine mandate for millions of American workers. Make no mistake, this is all about government control. Washington liberals don't care about the freedoms this country was founded on.
President Biden admitted as much when he stated, "This is not about freedom or personal choice." This isn't about science. It's all about power and control. The White House even said on July 25 that vaccine mandates were not the role of the federal government and has already gone back on its word. These mandates go against everything America stands for, and the American people have had enough of this Administration trampling over their freedoms.
Hurricane Ida Recovery Assistance
After much urging by our Louisiana Congressional Delegation, FEMA has agreed to extend the deadline to apply for Critical Needs Assistance from Sept. 12 to Sept. 22. The deadline to apply for FEMA's Individual Assistance program remains Oct. 28. Apply today at disasterassistance.gov.
Points of Distribution (POD) sites are up and running for affected communities. These sites provide ice, water, MREs, and tarps to residents impacted by Hurricane Ida. To view which sites are open, click here.
As parishes begin to pick up debris, it’s important for homeowners and businesses to separate their debris to help contractors speed up the removal process. Sort your debris into these categories:
- Household garbage
- Vegetation debris
- Household hazardous waste
- Construction debris

Urging the Interior Department to Resume Offshore Energy Production and the Corps of Engineers to Activate Emergency Operations
This week, Congressman Garret Graves and I wrote a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland calling on the Interior Department to expedite resumption of Outer Continental Shelf production in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida to prevent gas prices from skyrocketing across the country and reduce America's dependence on foreign oil production.
Additionally, we sent a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requesting that the Corps carry out emergency operations in at-risk areas to repair parts of Louisiana's flood protection infrastructure, including non-federal assets, that suffered damages during Hurricane Ida.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
