With The Federal Government Offering “Confusing And Contradictory” Guidance,
Governor Hogan Takes Action To Administer Booster Shots For Vulnerable
Populations
<[link removed]>

Governor Hogan announced new actions to administer booster shots for seniors
in congregate care facilities and immunocompromised Marylanders. With the
federal government’s guidance on booster shots continuing to be “confusing and
contradictory,” Governor Hogan is arguing “all of the evidence makes it
abundantly clear that we cannot afford to delay taking decisive action to
protect our most vulnerable citizens.”

Governor Hogan is also continuing to call on the Biden administration to
address boosters for those who received the J&J vaccine, advance full FDA
approval of Moderna and J&J vaccines, and expedite approval of vaccines for 5-
to 11-year-olds.

Last week, Maryland achieved the major milestone of having vaccinated 95% of
Marylanders 65 and over, while over 80% of eligible Marylanders have received
at least one dose. As a result of this statewide vaccination success,
Maryland’s statewide positivity rate is the 6th lowest in America and its case
rate is the second lowest in the country.

According to a new poll from No Labels, the bipartisan group Governor Hogan
co-chairs, “six in 10 Americans favor the call by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.)
for a ‘strategic pause’ on the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion spending plan,”
including 64% of voters in suburban areas.

In a recent Fox News op-ed
<[link removed]>
, Governor Hogan called out President Biden for being “unwilling to stand by
his own words” by “endorsing Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s political gambit to use the
bipartisan infrastructure bill as leverage to pass the $3.5 trillion bill.”

We will never forget the lives we lost that day and the families still
grieving. We will never forget the selfless actions of our firefighters,

Most Americans are fed up with the toxic politics in Washington today. They
just want our elected officials to figure out a way to come up with real
bipartisan common sense solutions to the problems that face us.

Maryland continues to be one of the most vaccinated states in the country. We
have now achieved the milestone of 95% of our seniors now being vaccinated. As
a result, we are much better prepared to withstand the Delta variant surge.
