Happy Grandparents Day!

Caring Across Generations has been celebrating this holiday for years because it’s a way for us to shine a light on the intergenerational relationships that define our families.

Now that we’re *this close* to winning a huge investment in caregiving and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), we want to hear about you.

Have you or your grandparents benefited from HBCS? What has HCBS meant for your family?

Record a short video to tell your story about how HBCS has helped your family. [[link removed]]

Don’t want to record a video? You can share your story in writing if you’d prefer. [[link removed]]

Our stories are powerful, because they show our elected officials how the policies they vote on affect real people.

We plan to share these stories over the next few days, as we try to convince Congress to make a bold investment in caregiving and HCBS. Your story will be part of a campaign that could make a lot of people’s lives a lot better.

HCBS can be anything that enables an older person or someone with disabilities to stay in their home. Did your grandparent have a homecare worker who came by a few days a week to help them around the house? Or did you get grants to build a wheelchair ramp so they could get in the front door? That’s HCBS!

My own grandfather, who turned 90 in April and cared for his wife for many years, benefits from HCBS every day. He lives independently in his home — where he has lived for more than 60 years — and being able to get assistance with things like home repairs and access to meal delivery programs will make sure that he is able to continue to live there with dignity.

Your story can help make HCBS available to millions of people around the country, enabling more folks to live and age in their own homes instead of a nursing home. Will you share your story today, for Grandparents Day?

PS — This is wild, but this year we’re celebrating 10 years of Caring Across. Did you see our co-founders Ai-jen Poo and Sarita Gupta share their care stories on Caregiver Corner this Friday? You can watch the video here: [[link removed]]
