John, Connecticut Democrats will never allow Republicans or the Supreme Court to ban abortions in our state like they just did in Texas.

Reproductive rights are protected by law in Connecticut, and now we need Congress to guarantee those same protections in every state.

Even though the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice has now sued Texas over its abortion ban, reproductive rights will remain under threat unless Congress takes action too.

John, Texas Republicans banned abortions this week and the U.S. Supreme Court allowed it to happen. Now the future of reproductive freedom in the United States is in serious danger.

All of us at the CT Democratic Party are deeply disturbed by this new law, but let’s be clear: Connecticut has codified Roe v. Wade into state law, and that won’t change.

Connecticut will never allow the activist Supreme Court to strip away reproductive rights from the women of our state — now we need Congress to codify the same protections for every American into federal law.

The new Texas law is barbaric — it bans abortions after 6 weeks, before the majority of women know they’re pregnant, and allows anyone involved with an abortion to be targeted by anti-abortion bounty hunters and forced to pay $10,000.

Connecticut Democrats have fought for decades to defend reproductive rights against the GOP’s anti-women crusade, and we will not let the Supreme Court strip those rights away from us.

We need Congress to take action to guarantee the same protections that Connecticut women have to Americans in every state, and that’s what the Women’s Health Protection Act would do.
