Farm Sanctuary

Dear John,

Legislation was just introduced in the U.S. Congress that would be disastrous for farmed animals. The “EATS Act” (S. 2619/H.R. 4999), is designed to wipe out state laws that prevent animal cruelty, including legislation the prohibits inhumane confinement of hens in battery cages, pigs in gestation crates and calves in veal crates.

Your help is needed. Please send your U.S. Senators and Representative a message today and urge them to oppose the EATS Act (S. 2619/H.R. 4999).

This is a monumental threat to animals across the United States. Besides undermining laws protecting farm animals, it could also nullify hundreds of laws against the worst cruelties, like abuse of dogs in puppy mills, killing of animals for the wildlife trade, and painful experiments inflicted on animals for cosmetic testing.

TAKE ACTION

The EATS Act (S. 2619/H.R. 4999), introduced by Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS.) and Representative Ashley Hinson (R-IA), is the latest iteration of a cruel and regressive measure that former Representative Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced and tried unsuccessfully to attach to the Farm Bill in 2014 and 2018 (as the King amendment). Once again, we need to speak out against this misguided proposal.

Animals need your help. Please urge your Representative and Senators to oppose this legislation, which would have devastating consequences for animals.

For the animals,

Farm Sanctuary
