Hi friends,

Today I wanted to give a strategy update to some of Alyse’s most loyal supporters. Last quarter, we asked you to step up quite a bit, and today I want to show you why these fundraising numbers matter so much.

As you probably know, after each quarter, the numbers are published by the FEC for anyone to take a look. Here’s where we stand at Galvin HQ:

Candidate Q3 Contributions
Don Young $211,565.33
Alyse Galvin $460,447.51

We raised more in the third quarter than Don Young has all year . Momentum is on our side, but we can’t let up. Will you make a contribution to the campaign to help us build our grassroots team? [[link removed]]

As you know, Alyse first ran for Congress against Don Young in 2018. She came closer than any other candidate has in over ten years:

Candidate Result
Don Young 53.3%
Alyse Galvin 46.7%

While Alyse fell short, she outraised him—a remarkable feat when running against a 46 year incumbent. What’s more, 46% of the money Young raised was from PACs. 98 percent of contributions to Alyse’s campaign were from individuals. She ran a grassroots focused campaign, raising 45% more in small dollar contributions:

Candidate Contributions under $200
Don Young $46,107
Alyse Galvin $667,287

Because of the strength of this campaign in 2018, Washington Republicans even admit Don Young is now vulnerable. They’ve included him on their list of incumbents most at risk for losing their seats. According to them, the program “plays a vital role in helping our Republican team facing some of the toughest challenges.”

Here’s more from Politico :

“This is an interesting peek at who the House GOP’s campaign arm thinks should worry about their race.”

And our pollster is hearing the same thing:

“Don Young is in danger of losing this race. Alaskans are ready for a new generation of leadership, and after her strong performance in 2018, Alyse is best positioned to defeat him.”
-Celinda Lake, Lake Research

Given the turmoil in the state government, we are seeing incredible energy on the ground. People are sick and tired of politicians who can’t keep their promises and don’t put the people of Alaska first.

So, what is our campaign going to do differently this time around to capitalize on all of this momentum?

Taking a look at the 2018 results, the data shows that Alyse underperformed in areas that she didn’t visit. That’s why we’ll be spending even more time on the road, getting her message out throughout the state. We will need the biggest ground game Alaska has ever seen if we want Alyse to win this race.

But building a world class grassroots team takes resources. If you keep stepping up and help us hit our fundraising goals, we can pull off this upset. Will you help Alyse get one step closer by making a contribution today? [[link removed]]

And if you are able, signing up for a monthly contribution is one of the most helpful things you can do for this campaign. Having a reliable source of money each month helps us plan and grow our team. Will you make that commitment today? [[link removed]]

Thank you for all you’ve done and all you will continue to do to make sure we win this race together.
