Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good afternoon,

This week, I remained in Arizona where I met with constituents and prepared for upcoming hearings in the Energy and Commerce Committee. Next week, the committee will consider key provisions of President Biden and Bernie Sanders’ $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation boondoggle. I’ve been talking with constituents and stakeholders from across our district to discuss their concerns with the package and determine how I can address those concerns. The hearing will take place on Monday and Tuesday, so make sure to follow along on my social media for updates.

I also attended a meeting with the Arrowhead Republican Women to talk about challenges facing our nation including the ongoing crisis at our southern border, the situation in Afghanistan, and vaccine mandates. It’s always great to talk to engaged constituents!

9/11 Anniversary

Today, we recognize the 20th Anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. That fateful day, we lost the lives of thousands of Americans and we must never forget. From the people on each of the planes, to those working at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, to those brave first responders who rushed into the rubble, their sacrifices must never be forgotten. Please join me in reflecting today on the strength and resilience of our nation and the American spirit that carried us through that horrific day and still does today. Say a prayer for the families who lost loved ones and for the continued strength of our great nation.

GET THE FACTS: Vaccine Mandates

As you likely heard, this week President Biden unveiled broad and overreaching vaccine mandates that trample on individual liberty and quite frankly, are unconstitutional. His decision to require all federal workers to be vaccinated and to require employers employing 100 or more individuals to mandate vaccinations is out right wrong. This is a blatant disregard for the rights of American citizens, and it cannot stand. I’m working with my colleagues and elected officials across Arizona to stop this authoritarian government overreach. I will not stop until this unconstitutional action has been rescinded.

Legislative Update

I’m proud to cosponsor Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) We Will No Comply Act to prevent Americans from being discriminated against based on their COVID-19 vaccination status. The choice to get the vaccine or not should be up to individual Americans and they should not be penalized for exercising their personal freedoms and refraining from vaccination.

Congressional Recognition

Monica from our office presented a Congressional Recognition to Nancy Germond, President of the Glendale Rotary Club for her decades of volunteer service to the community. From fighting human trafficking, to substance abuse mentoring, to helping small businesses and those in need, Nancy has been a lifelong volunteer in our community. Most importantly, she has worked tirelessly toward the social causes of the Rotary International. We are so lucky to have citizens like Nancy in our community!

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because she had not yet received her 2020 tax refund from the IRS. Our office reached out to the IRS immediately, and they were able to process her pending return and get the constituent her refund.
