** On September 11, 2001, I received a phone call from one of my employees. “I can’t come to work today,” she said. It was only 4:30 in the morning, “Are you okay?” I asked. “My family is in New York…” she trailed off and began sobbing then eventually simply said, "turn on the TV", and hung up.

** We all have our own memory, our personal story of where we were, what we were doing and how we first learned that America was under attack. We remember the horror of watching it unfold. And many of us had friends, loved ones and acquaintances in the Twin Towers, on the job in New York City, at the Pentagon or perhaps onboard one of those hijacked planes.
My husband and I had just visited the World Trade Center with our daughter and son-in-law 5-months earlier. I remember walking through the Towers, looking around mindful of the first bombing back in ‘93 thinking how could someone even begin to bomb these two massive buildings? Who could have ever thought that possible?
America suffered irreplaceable loss that day. We lost our brothers and sisters, we lost our security, our peace and in many ways, our way of life.
Through the tragedy and loss we also saw example after example of the strength, heroism, sacrifice and love that defines us as the greatest nation in the world.
However you choose to spend this day, today, September 11th, I hope you will take a few moments to remember the people and the bravery from that day.
