Dear friend,

Today marks 20 years since the horrific September 11th attacks devastated our nation and shocked the world. The amount of loss and pain that day was unfathomable, and many survivors are still experiencing both the mental and physical repercussions of the attacks to this day.

When I think back on September 11, 2001, I am not only reminded of these tragedies but of the bravery we saw. I draw hope from the perseverance of the American spirit that was on display that day and in the days and years that followed.

While the flames were still burning, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, and countless others ran toward the fire to save their fellow countrymen. Elected officials from both sides of the aisle came together to secure the resources necessary for recovery efforts.

Thousands of soldiers signed up to fight for our nation and were deployed overseas. Many made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and all took on tremendous risks. Now, 20 years later, our soldiers have finally come home.

On today's anniversary, I hope you will join me in a moment of silence to remember those who died on September 11th and those who lost their lives as a result of the attacks -- some many years after the fact.

Let us also thank those who helped us heal and repair. We can honor their actions and sacrifices by coming together once again, as one nation, to protect and strengthen our democracy for all Americans. Despite how divisive things may seem, there is so much more that unites us than divides us.
