Alaska Athlete of the Week - Marko Cheseto
Congratulations Marko Cheseto on being named the ASHOF Alaska Athlete of the Week!Six months after setting the double-amputee marathon world record in Boston (02:42:24) the former Anchorage runner rewrote the record book by finishing the Chicago Marathon in 2:37:23, breaking his old record by five minutes. Marko recently signed with Nike as an adaptive athlete.The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected each Friday with the winner announced every Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports 590AM and 96.7FM .View past ASHOF Alaska Athlete of the Week winners here.

Cam McDonald
Eagle River's Cam McDonald scored his first collegiate goal to help No. 13 Providence College earn a 4-2 win over No. 10 Clarkson in Potsdam, New York.
The Friars extended their lead to 3-1 early in the second period when the freshman defenseman beat the Clarkson goaltender with a wrist shot through traffic from the point.
McDonald, of Eagle River High fame, was credited with the game-winner.
The blueliner has blocked four shots in four games and owns a +5 rating.

Isaiah Saville
Isaiah Saville of Anchorage made 37 saves and stopped all 15 shots he faced on the power play to backstop the University of Nebraska Omaha's 2-1 upset win at 12th-ranked Ohio State.
The freshman goaltender was perfect for the final 29 minutes, turning aside all 15 shots and rebounding nicely after Ohio State had tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second period.

Elizabeth Balsan
Grand Canyon University senior Elizabeth Balsan of Anchorage turned in the fastest 6-K time of her career to continue her breakout season.
She finished in 20:33.1 to place eighth out of 204 women at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, California.
Balsan, of ACS fame, this year has posted three of her six career top-10 finishes in cross country.
She shaved a full minute off her finish from the 2017 Bronco Invitational.

Emilye Grace Williams
Anchorage's Emilye Grace Williams has picked a fine time to pick up her play for The Master's University volleyball team.
The sophomore slammed double-digit kills for the second time in three matches to help fuel a late-season charge that has seen the Mustangs climb into a second-place tie in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

Afton Leslie
Principia College cross-country runner Afton Leslie of Fairbanks posted her fastest 6-K time at the Illinois College XC Invitational.
The junior crossed in 25:24.5 to beat her previous PR by one second.
Leslie, of Monroe Catholic High fame, was her team's No. 2 runner and placed 13th out of 57 finishers.
Principia was fourth in the team race.

Jeremy Swayman
Anchorage's Jeremy Swayman turned aside all 17 shots in the third period to help the University of Maine hockey team put No 8 Quinnipiac on ice.
The junior goaltender finished with 31 saves in the 4-2 win in Hamden, Connecticut.
Swayman improved to 3-1 on the season and racked up his 32nd career win in net.
His 2.71 goals-against average is buoyed by the fact he's surrendered just two even-strength goals over the last 183 minutes.

Whitney Wortham
Whitney Wortham of Soldotna has drastically picked up her scoring over the last two weeks as the Clark Community College women's soccer team continues to win.
The sophomore forward has bagged at least one point in four straight games to help Clark remain unbeaten in the NWAC's South Division.

Maddy Boutet
Williams College senior Maddy Boutet of Anchorage turned in an impressive individual result to help the Ephs win the Keene State College XC Invitational in New Hampshire.
She finished fourth out of 186 finishers in the crowded 5-K field, crossing in 18:19.2, just one second out of third place.
Boutet, of West High fame, was her team's No. 2 runner as Williams easily won the team competition.
Williams College is a NCAA D3 school in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Eagle River's Emmie Jennings is off to a great start for the Boise State University swimming team.
The senior was part of three victories - one individual, two relays - as the Broncos beat Wyoming on one day and Idaho the next day to continue a long home winning streak.

Caleb Moretz
Two games in and Caleb Moretz of Fairbanks is already a rock star at Rochester Institute of Technology.
The freshman forward scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift RIT to a 3-2 win over No. 17 Bowling Green in Toledo, Ohio.
Moretz, of West Valley High fame, found the back of the net 78 seconds into OT for his first NCAA goal.

Anchorage's Derrick Wilson brought his jump shot to Sweden.
The 6-foot-1 guard known for his defensive prowess has turned up the offense in his first season with Stockholm-based Djurgarden.
He poured in a career-high 35 points in his first game. Then he had a triple-double in his fourth game.

Anchorage's Kayla Sims got the party started for The Master's University women's soccer team in a 2-1 win over Menlo College in California.
The forward scored in the 35th minute to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead, helping the team improve to 7-3-3 on the season.

Malia Miller
Juneau's Malia Miller extended her points streak to a season-high four games after scoring an insurance goal in Bellevue College's 3-1 win over Centralia.
The freshman forward found the back of the net in the 82nd minute for her third goal of the NWAC soccer season.
She has 13 points in 11 games, including eight in the past four.
Miller, of Juneau-Douglas High fame, is tied for third in the NWAC with seven assists.
