The incredible loss of 9/11 inspired a generation of heroes to step up for their country and defend the freedom and security that we once took for granted.

In the 20 years since the attacks, we’ve lost countless military heroes on the ground, as well as many first responders who suffered the effects of the aftermath years later.

Their loss, as well as the loss of the thousands of innocent lives in the attacks, are a somber reminder that freedom is not free.

We must continue to remember the sacrifices so many have made for our God-given rights, and we must never forget what they are fighting for.

Each day, we must honor them through commitment to freedom, democracy, and every other principle that makes America the greatest country on earth.

Today, we honor every single patriot who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and every innocent person who had to perish in the attacks.
