As promised, we wanted to reach out to share an update on the work of Young Democrats of America and tell you about some exciting opportunities to get involved.

We also wanted to recognize the terrible impact that Hurricane Ida continues to have on communities throughout the country and hope you will join us in keeping those communities in your thoughts. We also hope you’ll join us in supporting relief and recovery efforts by supporting some of the following organizations if you are able:

• Forward Together New Orleans
• Power Coalition for Equality and Justice
• Organizing Resilience Network
• Community Food Bank of New Jersey
• South Jersey Mutual Aid Network

Appointments 

We are excited to announce that applications for administrative officer positions, committee chairs, vice-chairs, and secretaries are now open. All the information needed to apply including position descriptions, details on the process, and timeline can be found at yda.org/appointments.

All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM HST on September 24th. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns about the appointment process.

Ad-Hoc Committees Update

A few weeks ago, we opened an interest form for our Ad-Hoc Committees and Task Forces. While initial interest has been strong, we still hope to see more members apply to be part of this critical work - that’s why we’ve extended applications in particular for the following committees until September 17th:

• Mission and Value Statement Creation Committee
• COVID-19 Health Protocols Review& Future Recommendations Committee
• Communications and Digital Publication Task Force

We are also continuing to take applications for Modernization of the Charter, Bylaws, and Standing Rules Ad-Hoc Committee, but have made an initial round of selections that you can view here.  

We hope you’ll encourage individuals in your network who are passionate about the areas of focus of our Ad-Hoc Committees and Task Forces to complete this form. You can also find a description of what each Ad-Hoc Committee will do here.

Additionally, we hope to announce the formation of two more task forces in the coming weeks to help YDA create more accessible events along with beginning to tackle issues around organizational safety and accountability.

Constituency Caucuses Opportunities

We’re excited to share with you some opportunities to get involved with YDA’s constituency caucuses in leadership positions. We will continue to update this document as Caucuses share more information with us.

YDA x CYD Weekend of Action Reminder

Every election our friends in big blue California call into our swing states to help us—now it’s time to return the favor. Join Young Democrats from all over the country this weekend, September 11 & 12, from 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT both days to encourage young voters to vote against this recall next week.
