Swing Left Action Update

Hi there,

The work to protect our democracy is never easy, but it also doesn't need to be complicated. We're committed to making it as simple as possible to find ways to get involved in the key races that determine the balance of power in our country.

Getting involved can look really different for different folks—depending on where you live, how much time you have, if you'd rather talk to voters or donate to candidates—so below you'll find our top suggestions for how to step up this weekend, no matter where you live or how much time you have.

Thanks for staying involved!

If you have one minute or less ...

Donate to our Keep Virginia Blue Fund and your single donation will be split to support these 12 Virginia candidates fighting for continued legislative progress. The last year has made clear just how important it is to keep seats blue at the state level, where decisions on health care, education, gun violence prevention, and more have real, immediate consequences on people's lives.

We've also just added a new target candidate, Delegate Rodney Willett, who's running to keep VA HD-73 blue. Delegate Willett's top priority is to continue fighting to expand access to affordable health care.

If you have 10 minutes ...

Start your very own grassroots fundraising page (it really only takes a few minutes!). All you have to do is visit swingleft.org/fundraise and click on “create a fundraising page.” You may need to log in or sign up if you haven’t yet.

Once you’re on the creation page, select the fund you’d like to support, set a goal, and add a few details about why this fund is important to you. Be creative! Once you create your page, you can easily share it with your friends, family, and network through social media, email, or by sending them the link directly.

If you have 30 minutes to one hour ...

Write letters to voters with Vote Forward! Writing letters is a proven way to help increase turnout on Election Day. The first mail date for Virginia letters is on September 18, so we have just a few days to write thousands more letters to Virginia voters. Grab your blue pen, stamps, envelopes, and a friend to join you, and write to a few voters this weekend!

If you have one hour or more ...

Find a phone bank and start calling voters. Swing Left groups and our target candidates are hosting virtual phone bank events every day. These Virginia races are going to be close, so connecting with even one or two voters on the phone can make a real difference in keeping the commonwealth blue this year.

No time this weekend? Sign up for an event later this month ...

RSVP for an Immediate Impact Team phone bank. Starting later this month and continuing through GOTV, we'll offer weekly virtual phone banks that kick off with a brief training. If you're new to calling voters, or just need a refresher, this is the perfect chance to hear tips from our expert volunteers and organizers before you get started!

RSVP for our Stronger Democracy Series panel on redistricting and fair maps. Join us on September 28 at 8pm ET for a discussion with experts on voting rights and gerrymandering, and leaders in the fight for fair maps. We'll share more details on panelists soon!

At Swing Left, elections are our thing. To build the future we want to see, we're committed to helping elect Democrats to strengthen our democracy.
