Here's why: Experts at POLITICO say that Democrats' chances of defending our razor-thin majority hinge on keeping Georgia blue. This race will decide Senate control – but while GOP megadonors and dark money groups have millions to spend to try and buy this seat, we're running a people-powered campaign that relies on grassroots support. And unfortunately, with time running out before our crucial midnight fundraising deadline, we're falling incredibly short of our goal.

So I'm personally reaching out to ask for your help today. I need raise another $8,346 to fight back against GOP attacks and protect my seat – and I'm counting on you to help me get there: Please, will you give $15 or more right now – split between Debbie Stabenow and my campaign – so we can win in Georgia and defend our Democratic Senate majority?

As a kid who grew up in public housing, I know what it's like to be counted out before you even get started. But through hard work and the support of my family and community, I was able to graduate from college and went on to become the senior pastor at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s church. Now, I'm proudly serving as the first Black senator in Georgia's history.

But here's the deal: With the Senate split 50-50, Republicans need to flip only one seat to retake control – and NBC News confirms that they're coming after me as a top target for defeat.

That's why we have to fight back now – and it's why falling short of important goals like this isn't an option. Because if we fail to keep Georgia blue, Mitch McConnell will be back calling the shots and obstructing our Democratic agenda at every turn.
