John— Yesterday, the Biden administration’s Department of Justice announced it is suing Texas to stop its unconstitutional ban on abortion, SB 8, from being enforced.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said it best: Texas enacted this draconian, dystopian ban on abortion “in open defiance of the Constitution.” 1 But SB 8 is still in effect for now — meaning the law is already barring pregnant people in Texas from accessing abortion care.

We can’t let up now, John. Make an urgent gift today to help pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would safeguard the legal right to abortion and stop heinous bans like SB 8 from spreading to other states. [[link removed]]

John—

The Supreme Court’s decision not to block the most extreme abortion ban in the country has rendered Roe v. Wade meaningless in Texas — and now anti-choice lawmakers across the country have a blueprint to enact copycat bills. Make no mistake: They’re eager to get started and the threat couldn’t be more serious. Lawmakers in Florida, Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, Missouri, South Carolina, West Virginia, and South Dakota have all already announced their plans to pursue copycat legislation.

This is happening quickly, John. We urgently need your support to ensure Congress passes the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and protects the right to abortion for every body across the country. Rush your gift of just $3 or more right now. [[link removed]]

Texas’ heinous abortion ban is the latest in a coordinated series of attacks on reproductive freedom across the country that leads all the way to the Supreme Court. The law bans abortion before many people even know they’re pregnant and encourages vigilantism by rewarding $10,000 or more to anyone — including anti-choice activists — who successfully sues someone for helping a person seeking abortion care after about 6 weeks of pregnancy. Passing WHPA will safeguard the right to abortion against these kinds of extreme attacks on access.

Rush your gift to NARAL Pro-Choice America and support our work to call on Congress to pass WHPA and help protect reproductive freedom for every body. [[link removed]]

Anti-choice lawmakers are laser-focused on ending the legal right to abortion — and now they have the blueprint to do it. There’s no time to waste. Congress must act and pass WHPA to protect the right to abortion for every body across the country.
