Connecticut– "I want first to affirm that the Connecticut Republican Party does not and will not condone violence. The incident being heralded in the press ([link removed]) as grounds for police involvement, however, was not violent. Connecticut citizens have the constitutional right to assemble and voice their opinions peaceably, whatever their political leanings are. Unfortunately, the news media is proliferating a dangerously one-sided and erroneous message that any opposition to majority democrats is extreme or harmful. This growing cancel-culture is going to be what pushes our country off the perilous peak of losing its democratic, foundational identity.

"The pandemic has pushed many to their limits. Anxieties and stress are at an all-time high thanks to the financial and emotional hardships of a changed job market, economy, work/life balance, and school environment for our children. People are pitted against each other over vaccines and masks. The Cheshire event was a clear indicator that the public has had enough. There are events happening across the state with Republican state and town leaders where they, too, are receiving backlash from the frustrated public. Of course, these instances have not been featured in the headlines since it would expose the hostility coming from the left.

"Just yesterday, President Biden announced an unconstitutional vaccination mandate on one hundred million Americans. This follows news that Connecticut's governor will demand an extension of his unilateral power over the state government when even the Democrat governors of New York and California have relinquished this big government overreach. Extending the emergency powers will also continue the mandates that are dividing communities, like mandated masks for all of our school children.

"We strongly condemn and discourage violence, but loud dissent is not violence. No elected official or political party should ask law enforcement to silence their critics. With the state legislature's seat on the sidelines extended, it's no wonder people feel they need to shout to be heard."
