John,

Right now, we’re witnessing an all-out assault on our democracy. Republicans across the country have been working hard to strip our reproductive, health care, and voting rights—moves that will massively impact New American and BIPOC communities.

In order to protect our rights and ensure that our government is of, for, and by all people, we need to elect more New Americans and BIPOC to office, such as our endorsees, Kendra Hicks, Coco Alinsug, and Laura Rodríguez-Carbone. With their elections coming up in four days on September 14, now is the time to hit the doors, make phone calls, and shoot off texts for them. So let's get to work!

In Massachusetts, volunteer for Kendra Hicks, a first generation Black Dominican woman with a bold vision for Boston City Council, District 6. She has been shaped by her community. And she has, in return, helped shape its long history of fighting for what’s right. From working as a community organizer to end youth violence to fighting for racial and economic justice, Kendra has been working alongside her community to bring about change.

Or volunteer for Coco Alinsug, an LGBTQ immigrant from the Philippines who is running for the Ward 3 seat on the Lynn City Council. Coco has been a fierce advocate for social justice issues. From HIV/AIDS prevention to being on the forefront of aiding the COVID-19 pandemic, Coco will bring his activist lens to the City Council.

Over in Ohio, volunteer for Laura Rodríguez-Carbone, a first generation Puerto Rican, New American Leaders alumna, and dedicated public servant who’s running for Lakewood City Council At-Large. She has a plan for a more inclusive and prosperous Lakewood, which includes restoring the city’s public health infrastructure, ensuring affordable and accessible housing for all, and establishing an economic recovery office.

Kendra Hicks, Coco Alinsug, and Laura Rodríguez-Carbone are all running to bring a fresh perspective to their City Councils. Let’s make sure there’s a massive GOTV drive for these bold, changemaking candidates!

Your in the movement,
