Time to vote NO on the recall
Dear John,
The recall election is entering its last weekend, and turnout in these final days will determine if we can build on our progress or if we take a giant, dangerous step back.
Let’s be clear. Larry Elder, the leading candidate to replace Governor Newsom on the recall ballot, wants to eliminate vaccine, mask, and testing mandates in schools, needlessly endangering the lives of our students and our school workers. We simply cannot allow that to happen.
He is also on record advocating for the privatization of public education through vouchers.
But this is about more than stopping a bad actor. Governor Newsom has a proven track record of supporting public education and working people. This year’s budget has the most money for public education in California history, including $3 billion for community schools, and massive investments in early education.
During the COVID-19 crisis Governor Newsom has worked with us to ensure early vaccine access for educators and school staff, and has listened closely as we continue to advocate for the safety of our members and our students.
It’s time to drop that ballot in the mail and vote NO on the recall. We can’t afford to go backwards.
In Unity,
Jeffery M. Freitas
CFT President
