POLL: Should people who perpetuate racism and discrimination, including filing false, race-based police reports, be held to the fullest extent of the law
It's official, team -- David Elmendorf, a former New York ice cream shop owner, is being ordered to pay a total of $500 each to the non-violent Black Lives Matter protestors he harassed and threatened last year.
Elmendorf threatened the peaceful protestors with a gun, shouted racial obscenities at them, then contacted the police to lie about the events that took place. Elmendorf isn't the first white person to harass and intimidate innocent Black people. These incidents of racial harassment have dangerous consequences and have led to the incarceration and even murder of Black citizens.
New York Attorney General Letitia James said, "Those who make racist and violent threats will be held accountable by my office with the full weight of the law."
Now, team, we want to hear from you: Should people who perpetuate racism and discrimination, including filing false, race-based police reports, be held to the fullest extent of the law? Take the poll ?
