“People like to say we’re done with COVID, but COVID is not done with us.”
That’s Dr. Fauci setting the record straight after Congressman Jim Jordan outrageously declared the “real America” is done with COVID-19.
Even as COVID cases and deaths are spiking in red states across the country, overwhelming hospitals and healthcare workers, COVID misinformation has become the GOP’s new ‘holy grail.’ Anti-mask mandates, organized parent groups defying school mask policies, efforts to spread misinformation about vaccine safety — and the list goes on.
The truth is: the failure of millions of Americans to inoculate themselves against the virus is responsible for this large new wave of infections which is now threatening public health as well as our hard-earned economic recovery. And elected officials like Jim Jordan and governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott and Florida’s Ron DeSantis, are leading this dangerous misinformation campaign.
Republicans will stop at nothing to spread their anti-science lies, and their refusal to listen to the public health experts allows the virus to spread and puts everyone, including our children, at greater risk. That’s not just un-American; it's inhumane. And one more reason we can’t let the GOP anti-vax party take control of the House or the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.
