This week marks four years since President Trump attempted to end the DACA program and eliminate legal protections for Dreamers.
We worked through the weekend and filed a lawsuit the next business day to stop him.
I refused to put up with the Trump administration’s discrimination against immigrants. Their attempt to end DACA violated due-process and equal-protection guarantees for the 800,000 Dreamers in our country, including nearly 20,000 here in Washington State.
My office co-led that lawsuit. The case resulted in a victory at the United States Supreme Court — one of my office’s 42 legal victories against the Trump administration.
Since that first lawsuit, President Trump and his allies tried repeatedly to end DACA. For example, indicted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is continuing legal action to eliminate protections for Dreamers.
I am committed to continuing our fight for the DACA program and pushing for full citizenship for Dreamers. Will you stand with me in that fight?
Dreamers are enriching our communities, local economies, and institutions of higher education. They are fighting fires, educating our children and providing health care during the pandemic. Who are we as a country if we strip their protections away?
I promised Dreamers that as long as I am Attorney General, I will do everything in my power to fight for their rights. Nothing will stop me from keeping that promise.
Thank you,
Bob
