Hi there,
Bob woke up Sunday to a Seattle Times article about an extremist militia group that is accusing him of “treason.” A group is apparently considering a “citizen’s arrest.”
Bob’s crime, according to the extremists? “Violating their second amendment rights” by supporting and defending common-sense gun reform.
While Sunday’s news is alarming, we’ve known for some time that groups such as the NRA are unnerved by Bob’s leadership addressing gun violence.
There are also unpleasant reactions to his advocacy. Take a look at some of the messages Bob receives on a regular basis. Messages like these:
While these comments are disturbing, they won’t deter Bob from defending the will of the voters and fighting for safer communities through responsible gun reform.
In fact, Bob has announced his 2020 legislative agenda will include the following proposals:
• |
Ban the sale of assault weapons. |
• |
Ban high-capacity magazines. |
• |
Require background checks for ammunition purchases. |
That’s why we love working for Bob. He’s always fighting for us, and never afraid to do the right thing.
With your help, Bob is advocating for gun responsibility for all Washingtonians.
• |
He beat the NRA in court to defend the universal background check law passed by Washington state voters. |
• |
He blocked President Trump’s attempt to make 3D-printed guns widely accessible on the internet. |
• |
He proposed a law -- and got it passed -- making it illegal to possess untraceable and undetectable firearms or send 3D-printed “ghost gun” files to Washingtonians without a background check. |
• |
He was the first state official to propose raising the age to purchase assault weapons to 21 and requiring enhanced background checks for assault weapons. When the legislature refused to act, nearly 60% of Washingtonians made it happen by voting I-1639 into law. |
• |
Now he’s in court against the NRA defending I-1639 -- and he’s going to win. |
Sincerely,
Team Ferguson
