Friend — Dave Wasserman is reporting that the Republican supermajority in the Tennessee Legislature is moving forward with its plan to carve up Nashville in redistricting:

The Nashville area has boomed in the past ten years. We’re an oasis of blue in a deep-red state, and that makes us the number one target for the national Republican Party this cycle.

This is getting more serious by the day. Nashville is at risk of losing its unified voice for the next ten years or more.

Chip in right now to defend our district

It’s no accident that Nashville is one of the hottest cities in America. Our music, culture, and opportunity bring people here, but our community is the reason they put down roots.

If we let Republican gerrymandering cut up our city, we risk dividing our communities and losing everything that makes Nashville special. This is a partisan power grab, plain and simple.

We can’t let that happen. That’s why I’m fighting back.

Friend, our mid-month fundraising deadline is in two days, and we need to put up strong numbers to show Republicans we mean business. Will you chip in any amount to help me defend our district?

Thank you, friend, for always having my back.

— Jim
